Ability to rename existing stashes
I know I can pop and recommit a stash to rename it, but I want a convenient shortcut like we have with the last commits on branches. This would make it much easier to go through old stashes in a repo and clean up the names (which often start out as just "WIP").

Matthew Cox+1 I'd really like the ability to give stashes an arbitrary name similar to how one can with Source Tree. Sometimes stashes are very useful for hanging onto dev machine specific configuration files that you don't want to commit to source

Luis MergedHave the ability to give a custom name to stashes, and be able to rename them. This would be of great help to me. I usually have stashes with specific purposes that I'd really like quickly identify, with no need to click on them and see contents.

I want this too. I used to use Source Tree. I miss not having this feature. -

This would make using stashes even more useful. -

Polo+1 for renaming stashes quickly !
But please, do not add any prefix to the stash name... Indeed, currently when we stash something, it sometimes adds the last part of the current branch name into the stash name (yes it occurs inconsistently, or I didn't understand when id doesn't apply). For example, when I checkout branch `feature/#123-fix-something`, if I stash something giving the name `Hello World` to the stash, the resulting stash name will be: `#123-fix-something: Hello World`... Annoying! Or, we should have a preference to choose if we want this behavior or not.
