A drop-down list of the 10 most recent commit messages

Often a commit message is related to recent, previous messages. Starting out with one of those can be faster than starting from scratch.

This sounds like something that a commit template could take care of. Now having the ability to choose from a list of commit templates I think would be a better option.

In response to William: not necessarily. When working on an issue we not only include the number (JIRA/Github for automatic linking) but also it's title (for an easier to read commit graph). If changes span multiple commits this gets repeated, and having a quick way to use a recent message as a starting point would be more helpful than a template.
