Support for ARM64
With the increasing popularity and power of ARM processors, as seen in products like the Raspberry Pi 400 and ROCKPro64, these machines are becoming more viable for development work.
I use a Pi 400 for a lot of my free-time development work and the one piece that would make my Pi environment perfect would be GitKraken. I would even volunteer as a beta tester if given the chance :)

DavidI have a Pinebook Pro and a Raspberry Pi 4, and I 200% agree with this - you're going to have to support the Apple M1+ anyhow, might as well support it on Linux, too!

Aniket Shirsat MergedThere are lot of SBC's that are powered by arm processors and toolchains like the raspberry pi4, jetson nano families. Some of the applications in robotics involve a lot of colaborative projects with git. Since github stopped support for command line actions there are very few options available for maintaining collaborative code repos with git. I have used gitkraken with x86 processor based boards and I like the app. It would really serve the robotics community who mostly work with open source software with a arm branch for gitkraken.

secretI use parallels on a M1 macbook running ubuntu. I am unable to use gitkraken in this environment as it is arm64. I am really surprised that gitkraken does not have an existing arm64 supported package.

At minimum a docker image which is maintained i.e. updated to the latest version would get me by in the meantime. -

secretNow that there is added support for ARM64 running on Apple silicon m1 with the 8.3 release. I have looked to see if there is an arm64 linux release. The release notes specify

However, the download page for linux still only lists the amd64 version -

Axel HeiderMaybe this should be merged with https://feedback.gitkraken.com/suggestions/192783/native-support-for-new-apple-mac-m1-silicon-arm-processor

seabieCount me in as another M1 Parallels / arm64 Linux user. I can run Gitkraken on the host OS while storing my source code in a share with parallels linux, but this leads to other problems (build issues). Would love to run Gitkraken inside the VM as I did before with x86_64 MacOS / Parallels Linux!

Craig McIntyreAnother request for supporting ARM64 on Linux. I'm using Ubuntu through Parallels on a M2 Mac and I can't believe that while there is a native Apple Silicon version, there still isn't a Linux ARM64 version of some kind. This is becoming more and more popular with developers.

Tim KWhile I very much dislike subscription models, I very nearly caved tonight.. such is the draw for having fully functional native cross platform support.
3
It's great that we now have OSX (arm64) builds available, alongside x64 builds for both Linux and Windows...
Unfortunately, my current focus areas include Windows (arm64) and Linux (arm64) of which neither seem to be available.
I will reconsider subscribing when I know that I can use Gitkraken across all my devices. Here's hoping!
Thank you -

honestjoeMy travel laptop is a Samsung Galaxy GO (Arm64 => Snapdragon 7c, 4GB ) its obv quite basic and the windows on arm os has emulation but emulation performance is awful . Native performance is actually really good. Vs code runs well but gitKracken is flaky as its running in an emulation mode and dependencies seam confused. A fully native Arm build / installer would really help it is my fav git client. thx J

AnticnWhy is it so difficult for Gitkraken developers to build a Linux ARM64 version? Would be nice to get an explanation to this.
5
Considering there has been a Macos ARM64 build for years now, this is hard to understand.
And also considering that Homebrew doesn't really need that much patching to compile Linux software on Macos, it doesn't seem like this should be something very hard to get done the other way around.
Is it possible for Gitkraken product management to say something about their reasoning for not making it happen? -
29 Feb, '24
LeeThis would be good for running gitkraken under arm64 Linux running inside VMware fusion on macOS on Apple silicon

TimFurther to my previous comment.. while I requested a build for Windows on ARM.. if i'm to consider paying for a subscription I'd need to see this land for Linux on ARM also (as many here have already requested). I'm mostly doing cross platform development between x86/x64/ARM64 across Windows/Linux/MacOS so for now I'll be sticking with Sublime for now but I've enjoyed the brief time I've spent with GitKraken so far

Mike KellyAnother vote for Arm64-Linux support here. I'm running Fedora on an M1 macbook air and can't use my favorite git client! Since this is an electron app, it seems like it should be a relatively easy target, as many other electron apps have made the switch.
5
I've been a paying user for years and LOVE the multi platform support of gitkraken. The M1s are everywhere, and soon we'll have the snapdragons everywhere.
Love you all :) -

ChrisPaid user for years here. This is a must for modern development tools. Whether it's for VMs running on Apple Silicon or even Chromebooks with ARM64 processors. Other Electron based tools like VSCode already support ARM64 builds for Linux and Windows. GitKraken should deploy these as well. Thanks for your product - but this needs to be done.
