Use Deb package repo for upgrading on Linux
As an end-user, I want to use the package update system I already use, in order to save effort.
Provide packages through repos to simplify updates using dnf, apt or other package managers.
GitKraken already packages the app in various package formats such as rpm and deb. It shouldn't be a great effort to put them on a webserver and run create_repo (or whichever tool the given package format provides).

Jonathan AdminThanks for the feature request. Consider using Snapcraft on Linux for package management while this remains in review: https://snapcraft.io/gitkraken

Daniel DemusThe request was for a yum repo not apt, although I assume apt is a simple to set up as yum.

David CalanoI use Pop!_OS (Ubuntu). I prefer to not use snap packages. GitKraken should really have an Ubuntu PPA so updates can be integrated with apt. It is an inconvenient extra step to have to manually download and install .deb files after each update when this could be streamlined and made way more user-friendly for Linux users.

FrancisPlease consider working with CloudSmith on this, they can host linux repos for you for you: https://cloudsmith.com/
Not an ad, I've just had great experience with their service and I think it would be a good fit in this situation. Manually updating with "sudo dpkg -i" every time there's an update is a pain in the butt.
